Big Flower Time-Lapses

As I write this I have a nearly-1-year-old and a 2.5 year old. Needless to say, my studio painting time is RARE. Which is why it was such a treat to spend 4 days painting recently – a birthday gift to me from my very kind husband.

I painted a peony flower and a clematis flower. Both PINK,  both very BIG, and of course, both in watercolour.

Here are time-lapses showing them bloom into life on the paper:

I hope this inspires you to have a go at painting BIG. For tips on that, check out this video

Happy painting,

Beautifully done!! What a great birthday gift. Days in which you can do something for yourself with little ones is often rare.

Wow, that was cool! I am not sure I could paint things quite that big. The larger they are the more paper there is to cover – not sure this old body of mine would take it from a physical perspective, but it’s fun to see you do it. You do such a great job of keeping your site relevant and interesting Anna! Thank you so much and again, Happy Birthday, you are a big blessing in my life!

Thank you Anna for sharing your birthday fun – I don’t think I would have been able to even start painting in watercolor without your teaching and inspiration. Thank you Anna. Think of 40 as liberating!

Very impressive Anna. This is something I would like to try sometime when I have more experience with water colors. How wonderful for you to have that time given to you for a special Birthday. We all appreciate your constant concern and care for our wellbeing and giving us tips to combat the trials that life can throw our way.
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY and may you and your family keep safe in this terrible lock down in the U>K>.

Wonderful Anna. Love your classes. It is my dream to paint big. I see that you also used size 8 and 11 brushes. I can’t find them at Jackson’s art supplies or Rosemarys. Is there an equivalent that I can buy please?
