How to paint realistic raindrops on an apple

To paint realistic raindrops, and get them looking just right, can take some practice.

But it’s totally worth it.

Realistic raindrops will take a painting to a whole new level of realism, create a fresh look and a feeling of a moment captured in time.

So in this mini class, I’m going to show you how to paint realistic raindrops from a close-up section of a raindrop-covered apple from a bigger composition.

In this mini class, we’ll pay special attention to the changes in colour which are needed to make our raindrops appear rounded, reflective and realistic.

I hope this has given you the inspiration and confidence to grab your sketchbook and paint realistic raindrops of your own.

If you’d like to have a go at the full apple painting, it’s available as a Solo Tutorial for members of my online School. There are also more Short Tutorials which show my School members how to tackle other parts of the painting.

If you give these realistic raindrops a go, I’d love to hear how you get on, so let me know in the comments below. And if you enjoyed the video, do leave me a message. I love to read them!
