About Cookies

A Cookie is a piece of code that allows the web server to identify and track activity of the web browser. They are widely used in order to make websites work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the website. We take your privacy seriously and use Cookies in line with the privacy principles as set out in our Privacy Policy.

Types of Cookies We Use

1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

a) Membership and Account Cookies

We may use both “Session Cookies” and “Persistent Cookies” to manage your account on this website.

Session Cookies will be deleted from your computer when you close your browser. Persistent Cookies will remain stored on your computer until deleted, or until they reach a specified expiry date. If you disable these cookies then some features of our website won’t work properly for you.

If you create an account with us then we will use cookies for the management of the signup process and general administration. These cookies will usually be deleted when you log out however in some cases they may remain afterwards to remember your site preferences when logged out.

We use cookies when you are logged in so that we can remember this fact. This prevents you from having to log in every single time you visit a new page. These cookies are typically removed or cleared when you log out to ensure that you can only access restricted features and areas when logged in.

b) e-Commerce Cookies

This site offers e-commerce or payment facilities and some cookies are essential to ensure that your order is remembered between pages so that we can process it properly.

From time to time we offer user surveys and questionnaires to provide you with interesting insights, helpful tools, or to understand our user base more accurately. These surveys may use cookies to remember who has already taken part in a survey or to provide you with accurate results after you change pages.

When you submit data to us through a form such as those found on contact pages or comment forms cookies may be set to remember your user details for future correspondence.

c) Cookies for monitoring the effectiveness of the website

We use Google Analytics which is one of the most widespread and trusted analytics solution on the web for helping us to understand how you use the site and ways that we can improve your experience. These cookies may track things such as how long visitors spend on the site and the pages that they visit so we can continue to produce engaging content. The data collected is anonymised. For more information on Google Analytics cookies, see the official Google Analytics page.

d) Essential Third Party Cookies

Some of our core website content is integrated with third party websites. Specifically, our tutorial videos are hosted through Vimeo and videos on our blog are hosted on YouTube (owned by Google). These third party sites use cookies to collect data about your use of these videos so that they can update the number of times a video has been viewed. For more information on how these third parties use cookies, see Vimeo’s Cookie Policy and Google’s Cookie Policy.

Because these Cookies are essential to the function of our website, you’re not able to switch these off. By using our website you are deemed to have accepted that we are using these Cookies.

2. Optional Third Party Cookies

These are cookies that provide information to other companies. We use:

a) Social media buttons and/or plugins that allow you to connect with these social networks to share blog posts and images. For these to work the following social media sites including; Instagram, Facebook and, Pinterest, will set cookies through our site which may be used to enhance your profile on their site or contribute to the data they hold for various purposes outlined in their respective privacy policies.

b) The Facebook Pixel to track the effectiveness of any Facebook or Instagram Ads we run. This cookie will tell Facebook whether you’ve visited a page of our website that we were hoping to show you. You can control any information Facebook tracks about you through your privacy settings within Facebook.

You have the ability to switch these specific cookies off in our Cookie Settings popup that appears when you first visit the site.

3. Targeting Cookies

Targeting cookies help us to provide you with tailored content and special offers, based on your past interactions with the site.

The only targeting cookies we use are:

  • Active Campaign Website Tracking Cookies: if you are on our email list we track your engagement with our website in order to, for example, email you a link to a free video on a topic, because you have visited a page of our website also about that topic. Though this website visitor information is held at the level of your account in our email software, we do not view it at an individual level. Rather we would set an email to send to everyone who had visited a certain page.

You have the ability to switch these specific cookies off in our Cookie Settings popup that appears when you first visit the site.

By default, your web browser will accept Cookies, however this can be altered and most browsers will allow you to refuse to accept cookies. For example, in Google Chrome you can adjust your Cookie settings by selecting “Preferences”, “Advanced”, “Content Settings”, “Block all Cookies” and change to your preferred settings.
